Privacy Policy
30 a Day ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of every student, parent, and guardian who interacts with our service. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and how you can exercise your rights regarding your information.
Information We Collect
When a family enrolls a student in our coaching program, we collect:
- The student's name, grade level, and assigned coach name.
- The student's mobile phone number, provided by a parent or guardian.
- The parent or guardian's name, mobile phone number, and (if provided) email address.
- The student's Math Academy daily activity data (XP earned, minutes practiced, lessons completed, course progress) — which we access using the teacher's existing Math Academy account.
- The text content of SMS messages sent to and received from the student or parent.
- The completed online consent form authorizing participation, including the parent's electronic signature, timestamp, and IP address.
How We Use Information
We use the information described above solely to operate the coaching service. Specifically:
- To send daily accountability messages, encouragement, and progress notifications to the student.
- To send progress digests and concern alerts to parents.
- To generate the personalized coach responses using artificial intelligence (Anthropic's Claude language model).
- To track each student's progress toward their personal learning goals.
- To comply with our legal obligations as mandated reporters under California law.
How We Share Information
We do not sell, rent, or share any student or parent information with any third party for marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile information is never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
We share information only with the following service providers, strictly to the extent necessary to operate the service:
- Twilio: our SMS delivery provider, which transmits text messages between our system and your phone.
- Anthropic: the AI provider that generates coach message text. Messages sent through Anthropic's API are processed under their data-handling commitments and are not used to train AI models.
- Math Academy: the learning platform on which students practice. Math Academy maintains its own privacy policy.
- Netlify: the hosting provider that powers this website and stores submitted consent forms.
We will additionally disclose information when required by California law (including under California's mandated-reporter statutes for educators) or when reasonably necessary to protect the safety of a student or other person.
Data Retention
We retain SMS message content, daily progress records, and consent forms for the duration of enrollment plus three (3) years thereafter, for educational continuity and legal recordkeeping. Upon written request from a parent or guardian, we will delete all stored information about that family within seven (7) days, except where retention is required by law.
Children's Privacy
This service is designed for use by students in grades 4 through 12. We do not knowingly collect personal information from any child without explicit parental consent. If you are the parent or guardian of a child under 13 and believe we have collected information about them without your consent, please contact us immediately and we will delete the information.
Your Rights
As a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including:
- The right to know what personal information we have collected about you or your child.
- The right to request deletion of that information.
- The right to opt out of any sale or sharing of that information (we do not sell or share personal information for marketing).
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@30aday.ai.
Security
Conversation records, progress data, and consent forms are stored on a secure local computer with encrypted disk storage and access restricted to the founder. We do not transmit sensitive data over public channels except through TLS-encrypted services (Twilio, Anthropic, Math Academy, Netlify).
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes that affect how we use information about students will be communicated to parents directly.
